Perhaps to offer hope in such a spiritual darkness, various religions of the world have a rich symbolism of light. Certainly there is hope for each individual born into this world. I know, that for some the word 'hope' may sound like a bad joke. Some, perhaps, have even had a bad religious experience. I want to tell you, that people and even religion can let you down, but God does not let people down. God did not create your soul to be plunged into the darkness of hopelessness. His desire for all His children, regardless of their colour and creed, is freedom, peace and rest for their souls.
'A Great Light' In Christian faith, we believe that Jesus Christ came into the world to take away our guilt and shame, our agony and hurt. He came to show us the way of life. In fact, centuries before his birth, God spoke through different prophets to tell that a great light was coming into the world; through this light all the people will have a chance to walk to their destiny. Many hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ, a prophet wrote concerning him, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned"1
What is your worth? Did you know that God loves you, and that you do not have to live a life of hopelessness? The world, the people around you, even religion perhaps, tell you that you are not of worth much. But know that God's plans are good for you. Jesus Christ said, "...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full"2. If you feel that your soul has been plunged into the darkness of despair and hopelessness, this Jesus can lighten your darkness. You may ask, that why on earth is it only Jesus, who can help remove the darkness of your soul? Friend, it is because of the fact that Jesus is not a by-stander, who guides people into the direction of the light of hope and salvation. Neither is He some shadowy religious figure with a whip in his hand, commanding people to obey laws and statutes. Instead, as the Lamp on their path, Jesus walks ahead of those who call upon Him for help. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life"3. Neither does He condemn our agony, nor hurt, instead He puts a balm of His love on our wounds. You can have the joy of walking in the light of Jesus right now, invite Him into your life to be your healer today.
